The What, When, and Why of French Jive (Modern Partner Dancing)
French Jive evolved in France after the American GI's brought the Jitterbug to France during World War 2. It is a two step Modern Jive with NO emphasis on footwork. This recognized dance style is international and one of it's greatest attractions is it can be danced to virtually any music. The emphasis is on the moves, the music, and the beat, fast or slow. French Jive can be fast and exhilarating, or slow and romantic. Great music is played. Dance to popular music and the lastest top 40 hits, in a fun social atmosphere.
French Jive/Modern Partner Dancing is sometimes known as Le Roc (UK), Ceroc, or Cosmopolitan/Modern Jive. It is based on a set of beginner moves, and also borrows other moves from other dance styles such as Latin or Ballroom styles and incorporates them into the Modern Jive style. So.. there is always something new to learn.
Adults Lessons and Social Dancing will continue during the school holidays and will move to the Gaiety Hall, rue Jolie, every second Friday of the Month throughout the year. .
